The Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant Healthcare. This individual implements specific curriculum designed to work toward each child’s Treatment Plan/Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals; monitors individual and group programs. This individual completes, priorities and organizes technical aspects of patient care as delegated and supervised by the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Essential Job Responsibilities:

* Demonstrates excellent customer service. Greets & services patients and family in a courteous, professional manner. Ensures that customer needs are addressed and expectations are met and/or exceeded.

* Contributes to organization success targets from patient satisfactions, quality outcomes and net operating margin.

* Assures patient/therapist/physician communications are accurate and complete.

* Assist patient/family/physician with questions or concerns as it relates to coordination of care and progress.

* Acquires baseline data and implements approved program using behavioral technology appropriately, neutrally and consistently

* Baselines, tracks and records child’s progress as indicated during therapeutic management by maintaining daily records including daily collection of teaching data and behavior management data as well as graphs on all teaching and behavior programs

* Assesses, develops and implements ongoing novel and age appropriate reinforcement for patients

* Applies reinforcement appropriately and specifically throughout the day

* Assists in organizing and participating in structured group activities utilizing leader-prompter model and reinforcement

* Participates equally with other RBTs in supervising patients in all activities, both in and out of the center

* Creates and edits therapy reports in timely manner according to department deadlines

* Assists in creating and implementing treatment plans/IEPs for each patient and attends conferences as needed/requested

* Develops and implements individualized schedules

* Identifies, analyzes and troubleshoots individual programs including curricula, behavior and environmental considerations

* Maintains professional communication with families through authorized daily notes and phone calls

* Attends home visits as scheduled

* Coordinates with home program staff to identify needs and develop programs to assist in the home setting

* Assists in hands-on parent training practicum during the visits

* When patients not present, responsible for following instructions and taking initiative to determine program needs that will enhance student performance (creating new materials, schedules and reading pertinent research regarding ABA, etc.)

* Supports Manager/Coordinator in assigned duties

* Maintains confidentiality with information in the appropriate manner.

* Demonstrates an awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practice. Seeks validation of knowledge base, skill level, decision making as necessary and assertively seeks guidance in area of question.

* Provides leadership, direction, encouragement, and feedback on exemplary and unacceptable performance of peers.

* Maintains professional standards by actively participating in continuing education activities, quality management activities, in-services related to area of practice and age(s) of patient population.

* Adheres to budgetary practices.

* Attends/participates in departmental meetings/communications.

* Provides leadership as delegated to include expediting patient scheduling, participation in staff selection, contributes to peer performance evaluations, problem solves operational issues and formulates recovery strategies.

* Actively participates in orientation, supervision, training and evaluation of students and other staff.

* Displays high regard for personal dignity, diversity and uniqueness of individuals (Cultural/Religious Sensitivity; Confidentiality; Privacy; Age specific Needs).

* Remains flexible for patient care and program needs

* Seeks opportunities to support other members of the team when patient care volumes allow.

Essential Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Education, and Training Requirements):

* Graduate with Bachelor’s Degree: Psychology, special education, education, speech, occupational, medicine; or related field.

* Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures and business operations and how they interrelate to other departments in the organization.

* Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to practically apply medical terminology, CPT-4 and ICD-9 coding, Office computer operations.

* Third party billing and appeal writing.

* Knowledge of hospital and/or medical billing rules and insurance claim filing, insurance and/or account follow-up.

* Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.

* Minimal typing skills of 40 words/ minute. Working knowledge and basic skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email.

* Must have strong written and oral communication skills.

* Must be a team player with the ability to work independently, as well as in small or large teams

* Protects and maintains the confidential nature of information.

* BLS Certification or Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid/Blood Borne Pathogen within 120 days of hire.

* Previous experience working with children with autism, BCABA, or RBT.

* Therapy clinic experience in clinical setting.
